A ramp at the train station suddenly leads to another room, at the end of which is a door. The door is locked and unmarked – the room is painted with a fluorescent color and lit by a black-light, thus suspending the space and allowing it to be experienced as separate from the surrounding area.
Passersby are unexpectedly confronted with the ability to leave the readable structure of a familiar space, able to reach a room distinguishing only an empty place.
Open Light both indicates and extends this void, a space without function, content or meaning.
It reclaims a space for unavailability. The work aims to entangle two antithetical spaces and promote the awareness of a dialogue between them.
